Sometimes I feel so honoured to be accepted and trusted within our little herd, I often get a glimpse of this when working in the field, they gravitate towards me and feel relaxed enough to lie down and have a snooze with me in their presence. (When they are asleep or lying down they are at their most vulnerable.)
When there's just the two of them you can often observe one asleep and the other keeping watch, this stems from being a herd animal - looking out for one another also a prey animal - the wolf could pounce at any moment, they use all of their senses to detect danger.
You will see in the clip Hilda looks like she is fast aleep but when a car passes you will notice her ear follows the noise of the car.
